Saying Goodbye to a Decent Roleplay
Hey all!
So, this week has (big surprise) passed by really quickly, but I'll go over some of the highlights (if I remember them)
Saturday I got the other district to help out and we got endowments for 21 temple names done! Too bad a temple worker got a bit confused and stole one of them, but I'll get it back today... hopefully.
Sunday we watched "Missions are Forever" by Elder Holland, which was very specific to missionaries in the MTC but also a really powerful talk, so I tentatively recommend it?
Monday we had TRC with Andrea, and our lesson was derailed when I cut off my poor companion and talked to her about prayer and the importance of following Christ for twenty five minutes instead. I talked to her about how prayer isn't just a rehearsed thank you, please, amen, but a conversation about the good, the bad, and everything you want along with need, because God is a loving heavenly Father and He does want to talk with you. it obviously caught her really off guard, since she was sick over the weekend and I asked if she prayed to get better and she was suuuuuper confused, but I followed the Spirit and she wrote in an evaluation alter that she was having some really bad days and it was just what she needed to hear. I feel so close to her now.
Tuesday Elder Baurnum left for the Mexico MTC because his Visa came through and he's serving in the Mexico City mission so it's not a waste. It was really sad, since he's such an awesome guy and we all love him so much, but I'm sure he's having a great time.
Wednesday TRC we had a member come in and teach with us, and Andrea brought a friend named Jorje. Time flew with five of us in there, and the two new additions were both really good people. Our member shared really strong testimonies of repentance and the Holy Ghost, which was really powerful. We also taught about Christ since Andrea said she felt like she wanted to follow Him, but didn't really know who he was.
Thursday we were asked to do Priesthood meeting tomorrow because the other teacher said yes and then later said he couldn't because he has a District Leader thing going on and bailed, so that'll be interesting. Also TRC was another great lesson--we planned to teach the plan of salvation but instead talked more about Christ and the purpose of His life. She said the scriptures we assigned really helped, so we asked her to read 3 Ne 11 & 12 and go to church--she said yes! I was so excited to talk to her about the scriptures and her church experience, then we got back to class and Hmna Sherwood explained that that was our last TRC of the MTC! It was really rough for me to hear that we wouldn't get to teach Andrea anymore, even if it was just a role play I feel like I was really close to Andrea and I truly did want the best for her. Our meetings were extraordinary lessons in the ways of the Holy Ghost, and I will always appreciate the fact that we got to teach her.
Friday was chill.
And now it's today! Y'all need to start telling me if these emails are too long, if so I'll trim it down--I know it can be hard to read missionary emails sometimes. Or... maybe I was just lazy. Anyway I love all of you and hope you're living your best life back home!
Love,
Elder Preston Bone
